New regional distribution partner in Brewer, Maine
OkoFEN and Maine Energy Systems were seen and heard in several newspapers and radio shows throughout Maine in the past couple months. The reason for all the publicity was the opening of a local distribution partner in Brewer, Maine.
ReVision Energy, a renewable energy company with offices in Portland and Liberty, has formed ReVision Heat in partnership with Corinth Wood Pellets, Inc. The company will sell, install and service wood pellet boiler systems and stoves, and deliver pellets straight from the source. A truck filled with the wood fuel will leave Corinth Wood Pellets and deliver to businesses and homeowners in the Portland and Bangor areas. “We do everything that oil companies do, but we don’t deliver oil,” Lee Landry, managing partner of ReVision Heat, says.

For the opening of this new local distribution partner, Herbert Ortner, founder and CEO of OkoFEN was asked to give a speech about the development and future of wood pellet central heating in Western Europe and Maine. The event took place at Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor and brought a lot of positive feedback from the 70 listeners. A similar event took place a few days later in Portland.
Dutch Dresser, Director at MESys, the exclusive distribution partner for OkoFEN products in the Northeastern US, sees such events as examples of overall positive market development. “The remarkable and sudden growth in interest in learning about biomass heating for buildings of all sizes in is a strong indicator that people are concerned about growing our local economy through consumption of “homegrown” fuel, and substantially reducing the size of our carbon footprint due to space heating. It’s also about preserving oil stocks for more critical applications.” Dutch Dresser describes his feelings about the current market conditions.
That growing interest is visible in a number of press articles in the last month. Articles about wood pellet heating have appeared in several newspapers and created a lot of buzz among environmentally aware home and business owners in the Northeast.
Another round of contractor training was held in Maine to help spread the word about wood pellets in the Northeastern market. Participants of the training included members of five large scale heating engineering firms and numerous installation companies were also present to learn more about wood pellet heat.
